A Day of Remembrance ~ Memorial Day ~

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.
        ~From a headstone in Ireland

~  In Honor of my dad, John Adam Eimes (1931 ~ 1997)  ~

Spirit, that made those heroes dare
To die, and leave their children free,
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
The shaft we raise to them and thee.

Unfortunately, we know too many who are buried in this cemetery . . . Terry Bennett, (1965 ~ 2003) my husbands partner on the SDPD (lower right photo), who was killed while on duty on the 26th of June 2003.  Our beloved brother-in-law, Keith Tiffany (1948 ~ 1981), who was also killed while on duty, also with SDPD,  in 1981.

The photos in the above collage were taken on the 31st of May 2010 at the El Camino Memorial Park where my Oma (19 Dec 1913 ~ 5 Apr 2010) and my beautiful mom (21 Mar 1933 ~ 21 July 2010) are buried.

THE MEMORY OF VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES
November 11, 1967

Photo right and center, bares the names of our fallen officers, Terry's was the last to be etched on that stone.

Oma's and mom's gravesite (upper left hand corner).

Our family is remembering this day, the many we have lost as they served our country to keep our freedom . . . our fellow police officers we have lost while they were serving to protect us. You will always be in our hearts. Yours truly, the keeper of our memories . . . .

San Diego County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation and the San Diego Police Historical Association, a wonderful historical site of our law enforcement.
