One Lovely Ancestor Approved Blog ~

I want to thank my fellow bloggers for choosing my blog for these awards. I was given the Ancestor Approved award by several bloggers quite awhile back. Since my mom passed away, my blogging slowed way down, and, I wasn't blogging everyday as it was.Genealogy has somewhat taken a back seat to daily life, grandchildren and the list goes on...all of which keeps me pretty busy and I am now very behind around here.

Kathleen Reed at Family Matters
Jennifer Wilhelmi at The Erudite Genealogist
John Patton at Patten Genealogy

I know there are at least four more and I apologize if I have missed noting your name and blog...I am currently cleaning up my email and I am sure I will come across those I have left out...still, I am very grateful and happy to know someone is still reading my oh-so-very-quiet blog.
I won't be passing these awards on as I see just about everyone has received them at least once!

Thank you ~

The Ancestor Approved Award ~

Just this last week Tuesday March 30th, I lost a very dear neighbor (two doors up) and friend and then on Monday, April 5th, 2010, I lost my maternal Oma (grandmother) in Germany. Life has been just a bit upside down. I am very involved with some of the arrangments for my neighbor...I am making the memorial cards and created a menu calendar so that each neighbor makes a meal on a different day. This way the family will have meals/dinners for the next two weeks. It worked out wondefully. I am also working on scanning and putting together a memorial post for my grandmother, the last two weeks have really been tough.

So, I wanted to take a moment to thank those who thought enough of me to give me this award not once but four five times...thank you so much...wonderful things like this always happen when you need it the most! I am so very grateful! Thank you Carol from Reflections From the Fence, Mary from Me and My Ancestors,  Mavis from Georgia Black Crackers, and Astrid from Of Troll and Lemons and Mary from Mary's Musings. I feel I have forgotten someone...if so, I apologize (I do remember now!). Now, I am Ancestor Approved and  love it, I am only sorry that it took me a bit to get my graditude out to all of you.

As a recipient of this award I am to list 10 things you have learned about my ancestors that have surprised, humbled or enlightened me, and then pass the award on to 10 other genealogy bloggers who I believe would make their ancestors proud.
I am at a loss for words at the moment but I do want to keep this award moving and send it to those who so deserve it...all of you do...it's always difficult to pin it down to a required number. In keeping with the awards tradition, here are my 10...

Missy at Bayside Blog
Tammy at Genealogy - It All Starts Somewhere
Vickie at BeNotForot

As I said, I really had a hard time just picking 10...many have already received this award so I wanted to share with those who have not as of yet. Thank you all...

A Blogger's Best Friend Award

My very dear friend Felicia over at My Nola Heritage has given me this special award, thank you Felicia! You really put a smile on my face and I am very touched. You are correct, even though we blog for ourselves, it is really nice to have blogger "friends" along on this journey with us. This community of genealogy bloggers have to be the most supportive, giving, caring and helping bunch of people I have ever met! It's an honor to be a part of it, and I treasure the friendships that I have made. It's nice to know that I write something others will want to read!

According to Felicia, I have to give this award to my most loyal blog readers. The award should be given to a follower of yours who takes the time to comment regularly on many of your posts. In addition, his or her blog should be creative, funny and always entertaining. Upon receiving this award, pass it along to two fellow bloggers who fit this criteria.

Picking just two is just plain crazy!! That is going to be really tough!! I am tempted to pick more but I will stick to the rules!!

There isn't a post that goes by that Carol over at "Reflections From The Fence" leaves me a comment. She is a very true follower and her blog is funny, creative and always entertaining with stories of their travels in "Tana" here's to you Carol, you are a great blogger friend. '

Robin over at "Where I Come From" is my best friend blogger all the way, she always leaves me warm and supportive comments! I love Robin's motto: "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the number of moments that take our breath away". Her blog is creative, entertaining and she takes the best photos.

Please take the time to check-out both blogs of my great friends. I cannot tell you how many "Best Friend" bloggers out there I wish I could pick. I have made some very treasured friendships in the genealogy blogging community. It's not fair that I can't mention all of you! Thanks to all of you for your friendship, creativity, entertainment, support and help that you always give unselfishly.

What a pleasant surprise to receive the "Kreativ Blogger Award" today from Carol and her wonderful blog "Reflections From the Fence" - we share the love of RV'ing! It's always fun to read about Carol's "RV" traveling adventures and whats going on with "Tana."

Puckerbrush Blog Award~ Thank you Becky

Once again I have received an award that I hardly feel worthy of but am very grateful and surprised! Thank you Becky at Grace and Glory, you are so very sweet, and gave this to me at a time that I needed a smile on my face! In another post I will fill all in on events but I have had alot on my plate and my Mom was back in the hospital again, much more serious this time around.

As I have said before, the Genea-blogger family is an incredible group and at times I feel closer to them than my own family! We know each other and get each other! Many more deserve this award far more than I do, I have barely contributed, but I am very grateful that Becky has given this award to me, she has been one that has stuck by me as well as Cheryl at Heritage Happens and Thomas at Destination: Austin Family, like Becky, Thomas is my mentor too, what an incredible person and one that we all have learned so much from. If it weren't for Cheryl at Heritage Happens, I would not be here, she has been an incredible amount of support and makes sure I am taken care of! Thank you all, you have all received this award and so I will pass this on to 10 others that I follow daily and learn from and make a difference in my life and blog. I hope one day that I too will be able to contribute and make a difference to others. I am very grateful for being able to be a part of this Genea-blog family, thank you to all of you.

The award was created in honor of genealogy blogger Janice Brown by Terry Thornton, author of "Hill Country of Monroe County, Mississippi", who explained that "Janice told us all about the word 'puckerbrush' in an article she posted August 27, 2007 at "Cow Hampshire". Terry elaborated a bit further in a comment: 'On any land allowed to go fallow and left untended, a wild assortment of wild plants grow – in some areas, this wild growth results in such a thicket of plants that it is almost impossible to push your way through the growth. So it is with the growth of blogs --- so many that it is impossible to read them all. But in the puckerbrush eventually a few plants/trees become dominant and influence all who view them through the thick surrounding puckerbrush. And it is those outstanding blogs whose influence spreads beyond just the surrounding rabble of puckerbrush that I'm honoring.' Terry issued this challenge: Henceforth these awards will be called the Janice Brown Puckerbrush Blog Award for Excellence. All blog authors are hereby challenged to name the ten blogs which have influenced their writing the most and list them as a tribute to Janice --- the Janice Brown Puckerbrush Blog Awards for Excellence.

To the next 10 that very much deserve this award~

Thank you for contributing, helping, and making a difference.

My "Friendly Blogger Award" ~ I am very thankful!

Two very good Genea-Friends, Becky at Grace and Glory and Harriet at Genealogy Fun , have award me with the "Friendly Blogger Award". I am smiling ear to ear and very grateful, Becky and Harriet, thank you so very much. This award came at a time I needed cheering up! Things have been a bit rough with Mom in the hospital. I feel honored and I feel that the Genea-blogger Family is so supportive, friendly and amazing and I get to be a part of it, it doesn't get any better than that. Thank you.

I know that I am to pick 7 Genea-blogs for this award, due to the recent events I am asking for a days extension and am calling it a night! We just got home and I logged on to check in and was so surprised.

Along with the drive to Mom's and back and working today and then getting a phone call that my stepdaughter was in labor, it's been a few overwhelming days! We have a new baby girl granddaughter with a full head of hair! She is very precious, this makes 6!! My stepdaughter had to have a C-section but both Mom and baby are great. We are exhausted and I promise after a good nights sleep and after work tomorrow I will pass the award on to 7 very deserving blogs and update you on how Mom is doing.

Thank you Becky and Harriet, you both are so sweet.
