One year ago today, my beautiful mom, Elfriede Haf-Serafin, passed away . . . it's hard to believe it's been one year already . . . my heart still aches as if it were yesterday. We miss her here deeply, she was my best friend and there has been an empty space in my life and one that has been difficult for me. We continue to keep her memory alive each day . . . her love and legacy lives through me, her grandchild and great-grandchildren.

If roses grow in Heaven, Lord, pick a bunch for me ~ Place them in my Mother's arms & tell her they're from me ~ Tell her that I love & miss her, & when she turns to smile ~ place a kiss upon her cheek & hold her for a while ~ Because remembering her is easy ~ I . . . do it everyday ~ There's an ache within my heart that will never go away.     ~ Author unknown

Gini,
Lovely memorial to your mother. To me, the year flew by, but to you, I'm sure passed quite slowly. I've enjoyed all your posts about your mom, knowing her before and after July 21st 2010. I'm thinking of you today.

What a beautiful tribute to your Mom! I love the elements of this post. You lovingly collected them from multiple sources. I'm sure your Mom would be proud.

This is just beautiful Gini! I feel like we are blessed to be genealogists, in a way, because we tend to see photos and many other items that keep our loved ones close all the time. I feel like I am with both my parents every day and I don't miss their presence because their presence is here with me. What I DO miss is being able to share my discoveries with them, but maybe they ARE sharing them with me and I just don't know it.

I was just thinking about you and your mother the other day, knowing the anniversary of her passing was coming up. I continue to keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers.

I know this is a very tough day. You continue to do your mother proud. I wish I had met her! To me, she is "Gini's Beautiful Mom," someone who was so special and so loved by Gini. You have made beautiful tributes of your mother. May your day be blessed with wonderful memories of your mother and the most awesome thoughts, prayers and hugs from your family and friends. Hugs and Love

The first anniversary is the worst. It does get better, although it takes time. Lots of time. I'm coming up on #10 next week and was already shedding some tears today. My daughter came in and said she needed to give me a hug and a kids to "make you feel better, Mommy." Many {{{hugs}}} for you today on this difficult day.

What a beautiful tribute...how we all change over time, and yet never change!

Your mom is still with you, at your shoulder and in your heart.

Have a blessed day.
